The Energy Transition, Phase Two

We’re always fans of interesting thinkers, and this piece from Dave Borlace (Just Have a Think) really struck as a clear, well-researched piece about the energy transition. Our forthcoming publication On a day like today we just need to look forward very much explores ideas around not just how we produce and consume energy, but why. It poses philosophical questions as well as creative solutions and ideas. Still very much in development we’ll shortly be releasing a draft Table of Contents here.

There’s so much malign and plain ignorant misinformation swilling across social media channels so it’s always time to take a deep breath when you come across a YouTuber who is just the opposite: informed, deeply knowledgeable, calm, and profound in his or her thinking. Just Have a Think is the instrument of Dave Borlace and I’ve yet to come aceoss a single video of his that doesn’t contain something interesting. This piece ‘The Energy Transition Just Entered Phase Two’ stuck me in particular in its clear and interesting analysis of just how fundamental a shift is going on in energy and a reminder of how we need to shift our thinking from being lazy, passive consumers to engaged participants. A metaphor, then, for how we should be dealing with the climate crisis as a whole.
